Investing on our future with an energy-efficient fleet
At Knight Waste Services (KWS) we are active participants in Environmental Stewardship and committed to reducing our carbon footprint.
Since 2014 our entire fleet have been fueled by compressed natural gas (CNG) instead of diesel. In doing so, we have reduced our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, on average, by 15% per annum.
We Also Operate Our Own Proprietary Fueling Station.
Other time and cost-saving benefits from switching to CNG include:
- Energy-efficient engines that require less maintenance, last longer, and break down less often.
- Refueling of vehicles can take place at night using an automated time-fill system. Waste collection can begin earlier and drivers do not have to wait for vehicles to be refueled.
CNG powered vehicles are quieter than diesel operated ones, resulting in less noise for the community during waste collection. Our drivers also appreciate the quieter working environment.
Reducing our environmental impact and carbon footprint is important to us and investing in CNG powered vehicles is just one of the initiatives we have undertaken to invest in our future.
